Starring: This is the touchstone, the porn murder-mystery by which all others are judged. Though it would never satisfy as a mainstream thriller minus the sex, nonetheless, it combined solid acting, sensuous sex and a diverting plot to form a package that sold to anyone who wanted a story with their humping. Twenty years later, Veronica Hart's sunny personality and legitimate acting skills gives the film its heart. For those who've never seen it, Hart plays Amanda, a hooker with a heart of gold, who gives pals Samantha Fox and Lisa DeLeeuw a job that ends tragically. Detective Richard Bolla shows up to unravel the murder and fall in love with the magnetic Amanda.

The always superb director Robert McCallum is at his peek here, proving a porn film could deliver the same qualities of a mainstream movie.

While there's enough sexual variety to keep anyone happy, the best scenes are the most tender, between Hart and Bolla, and Hart and the 18 year-old virgin she gingerly breaks in. That scene alone is a classic.

The performances give the production a depth you rarely see today, but was more common in the Golden Age than we remember.

There's probably too much story for today's porn dogs.

Still, it's worth hunting down on video or DVD. A 10. Always was, always will be.
